Dialogue On Shelter

Dialogue on Shelter supports poor urban communities to plan and implement their own solutions to the challenges of inadequate land, housing and infrastructure provision; and advocates for changes in policy and practice by actively engaging local and national government.

Dialogue on Shelter supports the Zimbabwe Homeless People’s Federation.  This Federation is a network of community savings schemes made up of households living in poor urban communities across Zimbabwe.  The Federation began in 1998, with membership currently standing at 46,900 poor households who are working together to improve their housing and living conditions despite the extremely difficult economic and political conditions.  Together, Dialogue on Shelter and the Zimbabwe Federation make up the Zimbabwean Alliance.  Homeless International has supported the Alliance since 1998.
