Jaguar Bakery

Urban Poverty Fighter

Francina Maquolo opened Jaguar Bakery with a loan from her savings group, making affordable, home-baked bread and other baked goods available to her community.

Since opening the bakery, Francina has been able to contribute towards her family’s expenses – helping to pay for school fees and put food on the table.

Francina’s bakery is expanding, and she needs an upgraded, industrial oven and resources to train more people in order to expand her business. In addition, there are hundreds of other women in savings groups across Johannesburg who need support to start small businesses of their own.

You can support Francina by contributing towards new equipment for her bakery, the train of more women to work at the bakery, or you can assist the South African Federation to help hundreds of other urban poor women by supporting the replication of this project in other settlements with a contribution towards livelihoods projects in South Africa.
