The Women’s Development Bank Federation (WDBF) is a network of savers who have developed local financial systems for livelihood opportunities and emergency consumption. Since the tsunami, the WDBF has been supporting communities in Moratuwa to reconstruct houses for affected families in Usavivatta, Dandeniya Watta and Aleviwatta. The WDBF has successfully negotiated for collective housing loans from financial institutions. Janarukula, which means “people working together,” is the support NGO working with WDBF.
