About Zimbabwe

Despite the uncertain political environment, the Zimbabwe Homeless People’s Federation has made significant strides with savings groups in 71 cities and towns. Although the economic free-fall makes house construction very difficult, there have been extensive negotiations with the government. Land agreements have been reached in several locations and houses have been constructed in three cities. Together with its support NGO, the Zimbabwe Dialogue on Shelter, the federation is working with the Government to propose projects which will enhance the participation of the urban poor in city planning.

Summary

Active Cities: 36

Active Settlements: 252
