SDI has been exploring links in Nigeria since the mid 2000s. In 2013, the Kenya Alliance traveled to Nigeria to support the enumeration and mapping of 2 communities, Badia East in Lagos and Mpape in Abuja, that have been under the threat of eviction. Since this time, the communities in Lagos and Abuja have continued to mobilize savings groups. The Nigerian Slum / Informal Settlement Federation in Nigeria is supported by Justice & Empowerment Initiatives (JEI). The Federation and JEI have also begun to engage new communities in Port Harcourt around savings and profiling.
